The actress looked a very long way from the Dales and murderer Emma Barton as host Eamonn Holmes brought up her time in another soap: Brookside.
The ITV show revealed a fun throwback snap of her and her former co-star Simon O’Brien, who played her character Debbie McGrath’s teen sweetheart Damon Grant.
Long before the 45-year-old’s terrifying alter ego stole a baby, shot her son Finn (played by Joe Gill) and killed her husband James (Bill Ward) – all in three short years – she couldn’t have looked more relaxed and carefree in the ill-fated drama.
Sporting voluminous short tresses, the stars were seen hugging each other while clad in almost identical denim shirts.
Gillian and Simon, 52, went on to land their very own three-part spin-off back in the late 1980s, which saw their characters abscond to York to escape their disapproving parents.
It sadly ended with the death of Damon, who had been a regular in Brookside since its launch in 1982. It came to an end 14 years ago.
Meanwhile, Gillian is now known to the British public as Emma, who looks set to get her comeuppance in tonight’s instalment of the ITV soap.
Speaking on the daytime programme, she commented: “I just try to think of her as a normal woman. I do feel sorry for her because she never gets away with anything.”
On filming her viaduct scene, Gillian added: “It was scary and I’m very afraid of heights but I was wearing a harness so it was okay.”
This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV, while Emmerdale continues tonight at 7pm on the same channel.
