Strictly Come Dancing: Kelvin Fletcher insists ‘curse’ won’t hit him and Oti Mabuse | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

His comments follow the publication of photographs showing them hugging after he spent his fourth wedding anniversary away from wife Liz Marsland. The actor, 35 – best known as Emmerdale’s Andy Sugden – said: “We’ve got a great friendship, sometimes like brother and sister. We get on and she is obviously there to tell me when I’m going wrong and she doesn’t hold back when I make a mistake.

“Through the week it’s a lot of hard work, long hours and then sometimes you’re panicking on a Friday and thinking is the routine where it needs to be?”

Kelvin, who left the soap in 2016, was only drafted in to compete in the BBC One series two days before the launch show was aired, replacing injured
reality star Jamie Laing.

On being separated from his wife and two young children, who live in Lancashire, he added: “I guess everyone’s in the same boat because this is completely consuming.

“But it makes those times when you do get back together extra special.”

Strictly judges, who include Oti’s sister Motsi, have praised Kelvin’s dancefloor chemistry with married Oti, 29.

Last night they received a standing ovation for their American Smooth and 39 points.

But he has received a mixture of comments on social media. He said: “It’s always nice to get positive comments but I try to focus on ones about my dancing.”
