The 57-year-old This Morning favourite oozed elegance as she took to the dance floor for the first time to debut her Waltz with her partner Anton Du Beke, 51.
However, Ruth Langsford’s routine received a barrage of criticism from the Strictly Come Dancing judges as Craig Revel Horwood, 52, blasted her “stumble and grab dance”.
Darcey Bussell, 48, kindly pointed out that her nerves had caused her to have several hiccups during the performance, and Ruth found herself joint bottom of the leaderboard alongside Brian Conley, 56, with just 16 points each.
Eamonn, 57, took to Instagram after the show to praise his other half’s efforts, posing for an adorable snap with Ruth on the dance floor.
“She did her best but she couldn’t beat her nerves,” he told his 296,000 followers. “I love her so much. Time to bring her home time.”
Despite the negative feedback from the judges, Ruth received plenty of praise on social media, with fans rushing to compliment her in the comments section of Eamonn’s upload.
“She did a great job and looked so beautiful,” one gushed, while another added: “I thought she was so graceful. And it must have been terrifying. Well done Ruth.”
“She was great take no notice of that lot,” a third chipped in, as a fourth Instagram user commented: “Just watched her and it was so gorgeous amazing for week one.”
Before Ruth stepped out to showcase her dance abilities for the first time, Eamonn was caught flirting with Strictly host Tess Daly, 48.
The ITV presenter was seen on camera leaning in and whispering in the blonde beauty’s ear: “Beautiful dress…”
He quickly extracted his arm from behind Tess’ waist as he pretended to have been coughing jokingly flirting with her live on air, exclaiming: “Oh, is Ruth on next?”
Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 6.45pm on BBC One.
