Peperami-maker Jack Link tempted by multimillion-pound manufacturing plant in the Midlands | City & Business | Finance

The US food firm said the potential new site was part of an aggressive European growth strategy and would build upon its existing operations in Ansbach, Germany.

The facility would produce Jack Link’s Beef Jerky, but could also manufacture sausage- snack Peperami.

Jan Pieter Schretlen, Jack Link’s managing director of Europe Middle East and Africa, said: “Whilst jerky is a relatively new sub-category of meat snacks in Europe, it is growing rapidly.

“Sales of our Jack Link’s Jerky have more than doubled in the past few years.”

He added: “Jack Link’s already operates a world-class production site in Ansbach, Germany, producing meat snacks for market-leading brands BiFi and Peperami.

“The meat snacking category is predicted to continue accelerating and our plans to invest in the UK will broaden our European production footprint and secure our long-term position as the market leader in jerky and biltong.”

The firm has been exploring “numerous options” for UK investment, from a new production site to linking up with a different production company.
