Olivia Newton-John assured fans that she is coping well with her cancer battle

And while she admits the after-effects will probably be with her forever, she believes she’s now turned a significant corner.

“The pain level was really the hardest thing. I was trying to do shows and it was pretty agonising,” she told Australian current affairs show 60 Minutes.

“I can walk but I can’t go long distances. But I’ll get there because I couldn’t walk at all a month or so ago. As I heal I’ll be able to walk more.’

The 68-year-old is undergoing photon radiation therapy at her own Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre in addition to “natural wellness” therapies including of course medicinal marijuana, whose cause she’s been championing lately.

“It’s probably something I’ll deal with for the rest of my life,” she added.

However her mindset, she says, has always been that she’ll overcome the disease.

“I will and I’ll be fine and there have been a lot of women who have had reoccurrences and continue on with their lives to be old ladies. That’s my vision.”

“And it hasn’t altered her outlook on life, either. I’ve had and I’m having an amazing life.

“So I have no complaints. Everyone goes through something. We all have something we need to go through in life and this has been my challenge.’’

Christian Bale admits he ate all the pies

Christian Bale is no stranger to altering his body for film roles.

He shrunk himself to a skeletal frame for 2004’s The Machinist, living on just coffee and apples but he’s done the opposite for his upcoming role in a Dick Cheney biopic.

So has he been piling on protein and bulking up healthily at the gym to play the portly former US vice president? Er, no.

“I’ve just been eating a lot of pies,” he revealed at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Well that’s one way to do it.

The 43-year-old American Psycho star, who looks almost unrecognisable from his normal self, has also bleached his usually dark eyebrows to match the 76-year-old politician’s fair appearance.

Next time someone asks who ate all the pies, tell them it was Christian.

Holly Willoughby insists there is no great secret to her new slimline physique: it’s simply having more time to focus on herself now her kids are a bit older.

Speaking to Lorraine Kelly on her ITV show the fellow presenter said of her weight loss: “My children are a bit older, you get to that point where you have a bit more time to yourself.”

The This Morning co-host, 36, who has Harry, Belle and Chester – eight, six and two – with her producer husband Dan Baldwin, said: “But I think as long as you’re happy and healthy that’s most important.”

When Lorraine attempted to question whether two of her most famous assets have remained intact she insisted they had, adding: “I think they’re still there, Lorraine.”

Good to know.

Watch out Cheryl (whatever your surname is) it looks like Liam Payne has been cosying up to someone else.

There’s probably no need to worry, though, as it’s only James Corden.

Following his busking stunt on Oxford Street last month Liam, 24, was on the promotional circuit again, this time as a guest on the Late Late Show.

He came head-to-head (quite literally) with host James, 39, as the pair put their singing talents to use in the show’s Riff-Off segment, where the Gavin & Stacey star and guests battle it out performing different songs.

The vocal challenge began with the pair squaring up to each other before James turned on the charm and began rubbing his nose on Liam’s, who seemed, understandably, a bit uncomfotable with the unexpected affection.

Well, James is not exactly Cheryl is he?

Jake wants licence to play James Bond

He’d probably better join the back of an already lengthy queue but Jake Gyllenhaal is the latest name to confirm he wants to play James Bond when Daniel Craig eventually hangs up his gun.

“I think any actor anywhere would be lying if they said they didn’t want to play James Bond,” says Jake, 36, who is promoting new film Stronger, out later this month.

Although to be fair he does admit he’s not exactly joining the likes of Tom Hardy and Poldark star Aidan Turner as one of the frontrunners: “I’m a huge fan and it would be a huge thrill to play an iconic character like that. But somehow I think it’s pretty unlikely to happen.”
